The complexity of adult lives means they have needs that differ from those of traditional-age students. Adult college students face the challenges of balancing school with work, parenting and other responsibilities. As the proportion of adult students grow on college campuses more services for adult learners are being cultivated to support them in degree completion.

Online and asynchronous, it is a perfect fit for adult transfer students who are parents, military veterans, working part or full-time. No pre-requisites, a scaffolded approach that allows students to acclimate and “gear-up” for the demands of upper level coursework at Mason.
The BIS program can also be a great fit for adult transfer students with a lot of transfer credits or for those who can’t complete required program courses because of a full-time job. Understanding Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS 300) is the introductory BIS core course that students complete during their first semester in the program. GMU Catalog Link to BIS 300
